Getting Started
Is VerifyOwners free to use?
Yes! Our Free plan lets you register up to 3 assets at no cost. You can verify, get a certificate, and use the platform fully. Upgrade to Standard or Business for higher limits and priority support.
Do I need to be a Nigerian citizen to use VerifyOwners?
VerifyOwners is currently focused on Nigeria and accepts users from all 36 states and the FCT. We plan to expand to other African countries in 2025.
How long does verification take?
Most assets are verified within 3–5 business days. Standard plan users get priority queue access. Assets requiring field inspection may take up to 7 business days.
What documents do I need?
It depends on your asset type. For land: title deed, survey plan, C-of-O or deed of assignment. For vehicles: vehicle licence, proof of purchase. For electronics: receipt and IMEI. Full document guides are available in the dashboard after registration.
Verification & Certificates
Is my certificate legally valid?
VerifyOwners certificates serve as strong supporting evidence of ownership. While they are not a replacement for formal government title documents, they are accepted by many institutions, buyers, and legal practitioners as a verified ownership record.
How long is a certificate valid?
Certificates are valid for 2 years and can be renewed. If the asset changes ownership, the certificate is automatically linked to the new owner after a verified transfer.
How does QR code verification work?
Every certificate has a unique QR code. Anyone — buyer, lawyer, bank — can scan it with any smartphone to instantly see the verified details of the asset and its owner on our public portal. No account needed.
Can my certificate be revoked?
Yes. If fraud is detected or a legal dispute arises, certificates can be revoked by our compliance team pending investigation. Certificate status (valid/revoked) is always visible on the public verification portal.
Ownership Transfers
How do I transfer ownership of my asset?
Go to your asset's page, click "Transfer Ownership", fill in the new owner's details (name, email, phone), choose the transfer type (sale, gift, etc.), and submit. The new owner gets an email to confirm, then our team reviews and approves the transfer.
Can I transfer to someone who isn't on VerifyOwners?
Yes. You enter their contact details and we send them a confirmation link. If they don't have an account, one is created for them automatically when the transfer is approved.
How long does a transfer take?
After the new owner confirms via email, admin review typically takes 1-3 business days. Once approved, ownership is updated immediately.
Security & Privacy
How secure is my data?
We use 256-bit AES encryption for stored data and TLS 1.3 for data in transit. Documents are stored in encrypted vaults. We never sell your personal data. Read our Privacy Policy for full details.
Who can see my asset details?
You control visibility. Your personal details are private. Certificate verification on the public portal shows only the asset type, verified owner name, and certificate status — not your address or ID numbers.
Can I delete my account?
Yes. Contact support to request account deletion. Note that certificate records may be retained for legal compliance purposes even after deletion.
Billing & Payments
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept debit/credit cards via Paystack and Flutterwave, bank transfers, and USSD payments. All transactions are secured by PCI-DSS compliant payment processors.
Can I get a refund?
See our Refund Policy for full details. Generally, subscription fees are non-refundable but we offer credits for service outages and failed verifications.
Can I cancel my subscription anytime?
Yes. Cancel from your account settings at any time. You'll retain access until the end of your billing period.
