Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of VerifyOwners platform and services operated by VerifyOwners Limited ("Company," "we," "us"). By creating an account or using our platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into contracts to use VerifyOwners. By accessing or using our platform, you confirm that you meet these requirements and agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

2. Account Registration

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information when creating your account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at security@verifyowners.com of any unauthorized access.

We reserve the right to terminate accounts that contain false information, violate these Terms, or engage in fraudulent activity.

3. Permitted Use

You may use VerifyOwners only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You must NOT:

  • Submit false, fabricated, or misleading asset information
  • Upload fraudulent or altered documents
  • Attempt to circumvent our verification processes
  • Use the platform to launder money or facilitate illegal transactions
  • Harass other users or our staff
  • Attempt to hack, reverse-engineer, or disrupt our systems
  • Scrape or use our data for commercial purposes without written permission

Violations will result in immediate account suspension and may be reported to law enforcement.

4. Asset Registration

When you register an asset, you declare that you are the rightful owner or an authorised representative of the owner. By submitting, you warrant that all information and documents are genuine and accurate.

We reserve the right to reject registrations that we believe are fraudulent or incomplete. Registering an asset you do not own is a violation of Nigerian law and these Terms.

5. Verification Services

Our verification services involve review by trained professionals using the documents and information you provide. Our certificates are representations of ownership based on the evidence submitted — they do not constitute a legal title deed or replace official government records.

We exercise reasonable care in our verification process. However, we cannot guarantee the authenticity of every underlying government record and are not liable for errors in public registries beyond our control.

Verification outcomes (approval, rejection) are at our sole discretion based on evidence reviewed. You may appeal a rejection by contacting support within 30 days.

6. Ownership Transfers

You may only initiate a transfer for assets you currently own on the platform. By initiating a transfer, you confirm that the transaction is genuine, legal, and that the receiving party has agreed to receive the asset.

VerifyOwners facilitates the documentation of transfers but is not a party to the underlying transaction. Disputes between buyers and sellers are the responsibility of the parties involved.

7. Payment & Subscriptions

Paid plans are billed monthly. Subscription fees are due in advance. We use Paystack, Flutterwave, and Stripe as payment processors — their terms also apply to transactions.

Prices are listed in Nigerian Naira (₦) and are subject to change with 30 days' notice. Continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance of the new price. See our Refund Policy for refund terms.

8. Intellectual Property

All platform content — including code, design, trademarks, and certificates — is the property of VerifyOwners Limited. You may not copy, reproduce, or use our IP without written permission.

By uploading documents, you grant us a limited licence to use them solely for the purpose of providing our verification services.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY NIGERIAN LAW, VERIFYOWNERS IS NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE PLATFORM, INCLUDING FINANCIAL LOSS FROM FRAUDULENT TRANSACTIONS THAT INVOLVED ASSETS REGISTERED ON OUR PLATFORM.

Our total aggregate liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Termination

You may close your account at any time by contacting support. We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you breach these Terms or engage in fraudulent activity. Upon termination, your right to use the platform ceases, but certificate records may be retained for legal purposes.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Lagos State, Nigeria. You agree to submit to personal jurisdiction in Lagos for any legal proceedings.
