1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When you register, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and password hash. You may optionally provide a profile photo and address.
Identity Verification (KYC)
For KYC purposes, we may collect your National Identification Number (NIN), BVN, or government-issued ID details. This information is encrypted at rest and never shared without your consent.
Asset Data
When you register an asset, we collect all relevant asset details including title numbers, VINs, IMEIs, location coordinates, and estimated values. We also store documents you upload.
Usage Data
We automatically collect log data including IP addresses, browser type, pages visited, and time of access for security and analytics purposes.
Payment Information
Payment card details are processed by our payment providers (Paystack, Flutterwave, Stripe) and are never stored on our servers. We only store transaction references and amounts.
2. How We Use Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We share information only in the following circumstances:
- With your consent: When you initiate an ownership transfer, we share relevant details with the new owner.
- Verification partners: We work with licensed surveyors, inspectors, and government agencies who must sign confidentiality agreements.
- Service providers: Payment processors, cloud storage, and email providers acting as data processors under NDPR-compliant agreements.
- Legal requirements: When required by Nigerian law, court order, or to cooperate with law enforcement in fraud investigations.
4. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including:
- 256-bit AES encryption for data at rest
- TLS 1.3 encryption for all data in transit
- Role-based access controls limiting internal data access
- Regular security audits and penetration testing
- Automatic session expiry and anomaly detection
While we implement rigorous security measures, no system is 100% secure. In the event of a data breach, we will notify affected users within 72 hours as required by the NDPA 2023.
5. Your Rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA), you have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
- Rectification: Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Erasure: Request deletion of your account and personal data (subject to legal retention requirements)
- Portability: Receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format

6. Cookies

VerifyOwners is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us immediately.

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify registered users by email at least 14 days before any material changes take effect. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
